Millions of people seek tinnitus relief, and it seems everyone who is not bothered by the ailment has a solution. Some are downright silly (“wear earplugs”), some are thoughtless (“it’s all in your head”), and others are from left field (“hold your breath”). Thanks, guys, but no thanks.
I’ve also found that drugs are not the answer, but there are effective tinnitus natural remedies.
The answer for me is “noise.”
Everyone who can hear is exposed to various noises. We like some, such as our favorite songs, and dislike others (maybe a boss or parent yelling at us). Some people like the sounds of birds outside their windows. Others, for some reason, prefer New York traffic noises to singing birds. Whatever the preferences, everyone has them.
And, so, the logical way to help with tinnitus is with noise.
I was particularly interested in “White Noise,” part of a CD set that encourages relaxation and quieting the mind with soothing sounds. People use this CD set to sooth crying babies, calm them down or to help overcome tinnitus or ringing in the ears.
I equate the sounds on the CDs with music. When I first heard rap, I loved it. My parents, though, fled the room (or fought me for the buttons on the car radio) because it was just “noise” to them. They told me the same thing happened when the Beatles were on the “Ed Sullivan Show” in the 60s. It was music to their ears. Their parents complained they had never heard such terrible sounds.
None of us really have quiet, but we can choose a lot of what we hear. That’s what “White Noise” and other pleasing sounds do for me. It’s truly music to my ears.
